Bruce Tantum
Bruce's involvement in the downtown scene goes back quite a ways. His band Moot were regulars at Danceteria and The Mudd Club. He also had a party way back in '87 where he and partner Micky Hohl played a "very Beat Club/Alldisco mix." He quips "It was lots of fun - many people were still violently anti-disco back then, and there were near-fights quite often! But most other people basically just got trashed and enjoyed it." These days he works a day-job as the clubs editor for Time Out NY.

High Priest
A veteran of the Mudd Club scene, and reportedly the first white hip-hop DJ, High Priest played in the Death Comet Crew (Stuart Argabright's post-Dominatrix Sleeps Tonight project), Gray (with Basquiat and Vincent Gallo) and spun for legendary MCs Phase II, Rammellzee and K-Rob. As Nicky Nice he was also in the hip-hop duo Trouble Deuce w/Prince Vince (Mr. Gallo again) and he will soon be touring Europe and Japan with the re-united Death Comet Crew. Back to top

Dan Balis
With his appearence on the latest Metro Area EP and his own releases on Brique Rouge, Dan Balis is a rising star of the house avant-garde, but don't let that fool you, he is a punk rock kid at heart. Dan's been too busy to DJ much these last few years but we're glad to have him back and excited to hear his trademark mix of the deep, the classic and cool. Back to top

K. Life Walks
In the late 80's in Florida, Life was 1/2 of the production team The Whiz Kids. They did the edits (as in choppin' up tape) on a track called "Security" by a group called "The Beat Club". Sound a little familiar? His resume includes many more impressive bullet points in the Miami Bass/Freestyle world (IE MC ADE's first DJ), but these days he DJs around NY playing disco, boogie & Paradise Garage classics. James Duncan
James is a musical mystery man. A Canadian import with equal love for avant-garde jazz and classic house, James sometimes merges these divergent interests, but more often than not focuses on both in a purist manner. His pumping house releases on labels like Traxxx, London's Real Soon Records and his own Le Systeme, betray influence from the deep and funky house sounds found on Nu Groove back in the day and the dancefloor workouts of Theo Parrish, as well as a deep knowledge the genre's roots in Disco. When he's not sweating in a humid club, he can be found on a roof in Harlem playing trumpet with some of NY's most acclaimed and out-there purveyors of jazz and free music, IZITITIZ. And on the rare occasions when trumpet has met dancefloor - on Morgan Geist's remix of the Rapture's House of Jealous Lovers, Morgan's own Lullaby, or in Metro Area live sets, for example - the results have been inspiring. We can't wait to see what records he pulls out for ALLDISCO. Back to top

Morgan Geist
Morgan has had a long and storied career in dance music, bucking trends and, in the process, starting more then a few. His early releases in 1995 placed him firmly in the diaspora of Detroit Techno sounds, but soon after, they began to reference electro-funk, house, R&B and hip-hop exhibiting an in depth understanding and appreciation of the history of dance music. His interest in the quality of late 70s/early 80s disco and club sounds and new wave led him to form Metro Area with Darshan Jesrani in 1999. Together they helped bridge the gap between house and techno, new wave and disco, songs and "tracks", funky and classy, emulating the quality of the song-writing and the highly skilled productions of the era instead of borrowing the superficial trappings of the past for a retro pose. Their songs became instant classics. Since then, Morgan has not rested, whether helping others learn from the past with his Unclassics series of reissues, digging up the Jersey Devil Social Club, promoting new acts like the Kelly Polar Quartet or pushing Metro Area in new, exciting directions. In addition to all that Morgan is a hell of a DJ and ALLDISCO is proud to have him join us. Back to top

Tim Sweeney
At an age where most people still think CDs are cool, Tim Sweeney was already taking turntable lessons with Hip-Hop pioneer Steinski. It was hard to move up after that, but Tim's gained further notice as the resident mixologist for current hot-shit producers the DFA, mixing their famous Muzik CD and disc 3 of the recent DFA comp. How he manages to find time regularly hosting the internet radio fave Beats In Space is beyond us. Tim's tastes always seem to fit nicely with the Disco Not Disco side of ALLDISCO, while allways throwing a curveball or 10 in the mix. Check out his critically acclaimed mix on RVNG. Back to top

Roctakon
Andy comes to us highly recommended from co-guest Tim Sweeney. His day(night)job is playing commercial hip hop and corny shit 4 or 5 nights a week at places like Bungalow 8 Marquee, Aer, and whatever new spot is trendy for people that suck (his words). He rarely gets a chance to lay down the disco jams he loves, so he's taking a night off from paying the rent to join us and Tim for ALLDISCO. People that suck's loss, our gain! Back to top

Benguin
Ben (along with Steve ShakeWell) is 1/2 of the Main Ingredients team that threw arguably the best party in Park Slope, until their recent move to Manhattan. He's an avid record digger and has a wealth of knowledge about boogie and disco. Back to top

Chupacabras
Jeremy Rodriguez AKA Chupacabras is from Texas, was a resident at Nitsa Club in Barcelona and allegedly got so drunk at a bar in San Francisco one time that he went outside, took off his shoes and passed out in the street. He also has more Italian Disco than you can shake a stick at and a show called Short Bus Radio on EVR with his buddy Will AKA Speculator. We'd like to thank him for hooking us up with the nice folks at Capone's, but if he ever gives you a drink ticket you should be very skeptical. Back to top

Jonny Sender
In the 80's, Jonny played bass for seminal no wave latin post-punk funk legends Konk. One of the first groups to release DJ mixers (individual tracks of broken down song elements) on their singles, they counted Larry Levan, David Mancuso and Madonna among their fans and played such legendary clubs as Paradise Garage and The Loft. Currently he is 1/2 of the production duo House of Voodoo with Bruce Smith (The Pop Group, The Slits, Rip Rig and Panic) and has been DJing in NYC and abroad since '81 at such clubs as Danceteria, Mudd Club, Nell's, The Palladium, Joe's Pub, Roxy, Sound Factory Bar, and Limelight. Back to top

Steve ShakeWell
Park Slope residents have long appreciated Steve's Main Ingredients and Body Music parties and his ShareGroove party at Rothko brought it to Manhattan. He's been in a discodaze for a minute now and claims to know the whereabouts of a Charanga 76 12" at any moment - ask him! When not tearin' up the dance floor, he is known as Mr. Cowley to the students of Roosevelt High School, alma matter of Public Enemy, Howard Stern, and Dr. J. His favorite soft drink is Disco Juice. Back to top

PappaWheelie
PappaWheelie was a Miami Bass producer and DJ in Jacksonville in the early 90's. He started two influential music discussion groups: ElectroDiscoPunks and Miami Bass History and has written articles for Jahsonic and ElectroEmpire among others. Since moving to NYC in 2003 he has picked up DJing again and played parties at Lit, Subtonic, Rothko, and Music Gallery among others. He also has his own dance. Back to top

Joseph Colbourne
When folks on Boston want to get down to classic disco, boogie, early house, and underground dance classics they go to one of Joseph's parties. Currently he is a resident at Number Six at PA's Lounge in Somerville. He has also DJ'd the Middle East upstairs, was a resident at Dynasty at the Milky Way and is often found rockin' sweaty basements and house parties. Back to top

Neurotic Drum Band
Together and individualy, these two have been involved in New York's electronic dance music scene for years, influencing many phases of it's developement. When techno was reaching it's limits, John and Elliot were rocking italo and new wave disco and helping put the "electro" in electroclash. John Selway's known for his many productions under many names (Memory Boy, Semblance Factor, Responsible Space Playboys) and bringing I-F to NY for the first time, while Elliot Taub (AKA Ulysses) has released records on Lasergun and Guidance and brought such luminaries as Alexander Robotnick, Arthur Baker and Mark Kamins out to his Regressive Technologies parties. They've also done a remix for Le Tigre, that will be out soon. Back to top

Chuddy
What do we know about Chuddy? Not a lot. We do know that has lots of great disco records. We know he had a show on East Village Radio for a while and he worked at Other Music. (It's kind of a secret, but we also know his real name is Tom Pratt.) Back to top

Mike Simonetti
Mike's favorite disco is disco for fat, middle-aged housewives from Newark and gay post punkers. He runs the Troubleman Unlimited record label. He and Catalyst's Aerosol Burns party at Boogaloo in Williamsburg was the shit for 25 weeks back in 2003-2004. He is the other half of the Crazy Rhythms DJ crew. His favorite food is vegetarian grab cakes. Back to top

Patrick Billard
Patrick, AKA Duckcomb's favorite disco is Barely Breaking Even. He's a resident Friday's at the Beauty Bar and some claim that not a day passes where he doesn't buy a record. His favorite milk shake is a beer milk shake. Back to top

Rob Uptight
Rob's favorite disco is disco for sippin' wine and feelin' fine. He is a recent transplant from Portland, Oregon where he was a resident at Holocene. Rob is frequently first to the dance floor and his moves are suspiciously reminiscent of the hustle. His favorite food is quesadillas. He can be reached via email at robuptight@gmail.com. Back to top

Dan Selzer
Dan's favorite disco is love songs for robots. He runs Acute Records which reissues forgotten post punk gems. He threw the now legendary Transmission party at the Plant Bar back in the day and invented nyhappenings. He is the other half of the Crazy Rhythms DJ crew. Only Dan knows how a synthesizer really feels. Back to top

Jeremy Campbell
Jeremy's favorite disco is on the outskirts of Frisco. He was a resident at Average Saturday's at Subtonic for about a year before starting ALLDISCO. Jeremy was too lame to dress up as Giorgio Moroder for Halloween and likes his clams on the half-shell with roller skates. Back to top
